This 1957 Gibson J-45 in Sunburst is a well-worn but sonically exceptional piece of acoustic history. With a full, warm voice and a wealth of dynamic range, this guitar lives up to the legacy of the J-45 as Gibson’s flagship “workhorse” acoustic. Structurally, it has undergone a few repairs over the years: the bridge has been re-glued using hot hide glue after someone installed and later removed extra screws; the original tuning buttons have been replaced due to age-related deterioration, with one post now slightly bent but functional. The truss rod is fully operable and the neck is straight, though a neck reset may be due in the future; however, the guitar remains highly playable with strong intonation and a rich tone. The action sits at approximately 3.25mm on the low E at the 12th fret. The finish has moderate checking, there's some top bellying, and various nicks, scrapes, divots, and cracks, but these are to be expected on a well-loved 1950s Gibson. Fret wear is light and concentrated to the first few strings. The original chipboard case is included and fully functional though aged. This classic has been cleaned, set up, and restrung by our professional technicians.
