The Keeley Cat-Thode Drive – Twin Tabby Dual Overcat combines two distinct flavors of gain in one seriously versatile pedal: a genuine high-voltage 12AX7-style tube preamp and Keeley’s legendary Phat Mod-style overdrive. This B’s Music Shop Exclusive version features original artwork by Avery Worrall, giving the Cat-Thode a look as unique as the circuit inside.

The Tube side is all about warmth, dynamics, and that unmistakable feel of a real tube being pushed. Keep the gain low for a little extra body and grit, or crank it up for rich, chewy breakup with plenty of harmonic character. The tube operates at high voltage, with approximately 100V at the plate, giving it the response and feel you’d expect from an actual tube gain stage rather than a tube-inspired effect.

On the other side, the Phat Mod-style Drive delivers a thicker, punchier overdrive with plenty of sustain and definition. It’s great on its own, but stacking both sides is where the Cat-Thode really comes alive. Run Drive → Tube for big, saturated tube tones, or reverse it to Tube → Drive for a tighter, more focused response.

A long press of the footswitch lets you change the effect order on the fly, while another long-press function switches between true bypass and Keeley’s silent buffered switching. There’s even a TRS remote jack for controlling the Tube and Drive sections from an external switcher.
